Meet Edwin Yaell:
The Story Behind the Lens
Edwin Figueroa, also known as Edwin Yaell, is a Puerto Rican filmmaker, storyteller, and multiple-time Lone Star Emmy Award winner based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas. He is the founder of Five Star Films, a Dallas-Fort Worth video production company specializing in wedding films and commercial video production.
With more than 14 years of experience in film, television, and video production, Edwin has built his career around one simple idea: great filmmaking is about more than recording what happens—it’s about telling the story behind the moment.
From Puerto Rico to Dallas-Fort Worth
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Edwin developed a fascination with cameras and visual storytelling at an early age. What started as a curiosity about what happened behind the camera eventually became a lifelong career in film and television.
Edwin studied Communications at the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications with a focus on radio, film, and television.
His education gave him the foundation to pursue a career in professional video production, while his years working in television and production environments taught him the importance of preparation, storytelling, timing, and capturing authentic moments as they happen.
A Career Built Around Storytelling
Over more than 14 years in the industry, Edwin has worked across different areas of television and video production, developing the experience and perspective that eventually led to the creation of Five Star Films.
His work has been recognized with multiple Lone Star Emmy Awards, an honor that reflects his commitment to visual storytelling and professional production.
Today, Edwin brings that same experience to every project he takes on—whether he is filming a wedding, producing a commercial, or creating a story for a business or organization.
